The AFS internal inflation chamber takes the form of the sewn outer construction of the jacket. This allows the chamber to be sewn in a truly 3D form that is held close to the body, forming a profile that maximises the in-water performance, yet minimises bulk.

The inflated product is smaller, lighter and softer than traditional 2D welded bladders, yet enhances performance in all the required measures.

The construction of the chamber also allows for an improved use of highly visible colours. The contrasting spectrum of hi-vis pink with hi-vis yellow has been proven to enhance visibility at distance in challenging conditions, over the use of a single hi-vis colour.

Internal updates include an improved structured sprayhood, along with new integrated attachment points for beacons, giving better accessibility and usability of these key components.

The Hydrostatic Hammar ® inflator is protected on the back of the jacket, reducing the risk of snagging and damage whilst being worn and in-use.

The softer more flexible internal construction of the AFS further enhances the fit and wearability of the jacket for daily use, whilst the improved single point adjustment gives a quick secure fit, simplifying the fitting.

The Harness Release System (HRS), a vital safety feature for the harness is now standard on every VITO, as are the exclusive Lume-On and Pylon lights that significantly aid location in the dark.
Spinlock's Deckvest VITO AFS now comes with the Harness Release System (HRS) fitted as standard, this is a soft loop attachment point for a safety line which can be released in an emergency to free a person from their safety line.

• Activation handle located behind soft loop, easy to locate, grab and pull
• Soft loop attachment released and open
• User separated from safety line and boat
• Easily reset to use again
• ISO12402-1 Deck Safety Harness

The Spinlock Harness Release System (HRS) is a new innovation which enables the wearer to disconnect from the safety line by releasing a lever behind the soft loop safety line attachment point of the lifejacket harness.

What is HRS?

Spinlock still considers a knife to be an essential piece of carried equipment. However, we have yet to develop a reliable consistent safety line clip release system. Instead, we are focused on developing a release system of the actual lifejacket harness. Testing showed that the harness release system needed to be simple to understand, simple to use and simple to maintain as well as reliable over the lifetime of the lifejacket. At the same time, the harness release system must meet the requirements of the ISO12402 approval.

Staying connected to the boat is undoubtedly safer than being in the water and use of a safety line is actively encouraged. However, in the event of a fall overboard, a casualty can find themselves being dragged/trapped alongside or behind the vessel. A situation which can be hard to be released from.

Hammar® Hydrostatic Automatic Inflator
The Hammar® inflation system is activated by water pressure and will not inflate until the cap is approximately 10cm underwater.

This system is designed for use in more extreme conditions and extended offshore sailing. The benefit of the Hammar® system is that the jacket cannot accidentally inflate from being wet with rain and sea spray.

The unit has a single indicator to show if armed. Delayed inflation can be caused if full immersion of the firing head is delayed by buoyant foul weather clothing.
