London's Leading Coastal Powerboat Training Centre, Chas Newens Marine, have trained over 1,200 students in the past five years; that's an average of an amazing 80 Powerboat Level 2 courses per year! Power Boat Level 1 Course

This one-day course is perfect for young people who want to gain experience and insight into handling a powered craft. It covers all the introductory basics of both practical skills and theory needed to earn the RYA Powerboat Level 1 certificate.  Click here for more info and to book a place on one of our courses.

Power Boat Level 2 Course

This popular two-day course is designed to provide comprehensive training for the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate. The extensive syllabus covers both practical skills and essential theory, ensuring you gain a strong foundation in safe boating.Whether you are new to boating or an experienced mariner our team of friendly instructors will make you feel relaxed and at ease, all whilst learning everything you need to know to drive your own speedboat. Our boat driving lessons are tailored directly to your needs. Are you going on holiday to Europe this year and want to hire a boat, or even take your own boat with you? Then don't forget you will need your international boat driving licence and for inland waterways (lakes, canals and some rivers) you will also need a European waterways endorsement.

Day Skipper (Theory)

The RYA Day Skipper Theory course is your essential introduction to safe and confident coastal navigation. You'll master the fundamentals of chartwork, including plotting a course to steer and position fixing using traditional methods and electronic charts. The course also covers critical knowledge areas such as meteorology (weather forecasting), the crucial International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS), tidal calculations, and the basics of pilotage. This qualification gives you the knowledge to safely skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.
